Reaction to European Multi-Annual Financial Framework discussions
In the video at the bottom of this link page (Farmers weekly online – please click the title of this post to access the page) Italian MEP Paolo De Castro, Chair of the European Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development reacts to the EU leaders tabling the figures on the multi-annual financial framework. The CAP will have to cope with a cut of about 16 billion Euros and this will be coupled alongside an increase in the obligations that farmers will have to follow. Not good news. As De Castro says it is ‘a very negative page in European history’.I await to see how this limited amount of money is to be budgeted out and how the new CAP is finally set out.
