‘Meet the Farmers’ – episode 36 – Patrick and Brian Barker

Patrick and Brian Barker (aka The Barker Boys) grow cereals, herbage grass seed, linseed, spring beans and, until recently, oil seed rape, across 513 hectares in Suffolk.  Situated on the North Suffolk Claylands, the cousins have put active research at the heart of moving their business forwards as well as boosting biodiversity through conservation and looking at where they can increase overall business turnover through diversification. They are a Strategic Farm for the AHDB (started 2017) and a LEAF Demonstration Farm and Patrick is on the Steering Group of the Nature Friendly Farming Network.

I’ll be working with Patrick and Brian at the Suffolk Show this year as part of the ‘Farming Live’ arena. If you’re coming along do come and say hello and ask some questions to the farmers who will be joining us across the two days.
