My week away in Devon was just what I needed. For a November holiday in the south-west the weather couldn’t have been better and I wallowed in the simplicity of days walking, spending time with family, pottering about, making dams on the beach as though reliving my childhood. Simply glorious. Perhaps the thing I appreciated most was being away from technology for a week, my phone switched off and emails out of access. I returned to Essex feeling freshened, albeit with a long list of challenges ahead for the winter, and I must say that the dark evenings are beginning to get to me. Nonetheless, the prospect of open fires and festive activities, with just 33 days until Christmas, is keeping me positive. Only a month to go until the shortest daylight day and then the hours of light will be getting longer again, gradually. Here are some photos from Devon.
Home again

And I visit Cornwall, often at least annually in most years, I do exactly the same as this. “Perhaps the thing I appreciated most was being away from technology for a week, my phone switched off and emails out of access.” Now that is what I call bliss.
