In August 2015 I published my first book, Pushed to the Edge: A History of the Naze and Walton Hall.
The book presents the human and landscape history of the small peninsula on the north Essex coast known as ‘the Naze’, and I reflect on its importance for the local community of Walton-on-the-Naze. The Naze has been an important part of my life and is one of the formative landscapes that has shaped my thinking and writing. To research its history was a real pleasure and I hope that you can sense my enthusiasm through the pages.
Updates and list of errors in 1st edition:
- On pp.110-113 there is a lengthy quote of the memoirs of AHB Franklin, to which I refer as ‘she’ and ‘her’. In fact AHB Franklin was called Tony and should have been referred to as ‘he’ and ‘him’.
- On p181 lines 2-6 the reference to the marina will be removed in the next edition due to unverifiable information. Further, Churchfield ‘Drive’ should read as Churchfield ‘Road’.
