I woke this morning expecting to look at the election results and see Clinton with a comfortable lead. Instead, I was met with my heart falling to my feet, and staying there, as I was presented with the results as they were at that moment: Trump edging ahead with 48.9% against Hillary’s 47.6%. When translated into electoral votes his lead seemed even greater. It’s Brexit all over again. It doesn’t seem real. It is still sinking in. In a few months we may well have President Trump…we probably will.
What does this mean for the environment?
All in all, it must be bad news.
The most concerning thing about Trump is that we don’t really know what he will try to do. He’s a loose cannon. We can only make judgements on the few statements he has made in the past (among all the mostly incomprehensible words he has spoken).

It is also 100% safe, once applied. But early on, asbestos got a bad rap because of the fact that miners who were digging asbestos for many years would often develop asbestosis, and therefore people thought that asbestos was not safe. I’m not saying it’s the greatest material to work with. I’m only saying it’s the safest material in terms of fire. A huge and concerted effort was made to have asbestos removed from buildings, causing tremendous dislocation and destruction and creating a new problem: asbestos floating in the air.
I believe that the movement against asbestos was led by the mob, because it was often mob-related companies that would do the asbestos removal. Great pressure was put on politicians, and as usual, the politicians relented. Millions of truckloads of this incredible fireproofing material were taken to special “dump sites” because of this stupid law.

Trump on Climate
Trump has famously doubted climate change. This is (more) bad news for the world.
He continues to doubt climate science.
”There is still much that needs to be investigated in the field of ‘climate change.”
This is what we are dealing with. The man puts money before everything. He doubts science. He would risk the health of the American people.
The rest of the world needs to stand up to him.

But we need to be cool headed and serious. Perhaps it is because of my age, but the present situation is more worrying to me than the cold war was.
Mother Nature is crying now… and justifiably so.
